The project presented unique challenges including variable subsurface conditions such as buried concrete, historical fill, and environmentally sensitive soils, all within a tidal influence zone. Giron implemented adaptive excavation strategies and phased sequencing to maintain schedule while meeting strict regulatory and public safety requirements.

VTA BART Silicon Valley
Phase II, West Portal
Giron Construction completed large-scale earthwork, structural fill placement, and underground utility installation at the West Portal site in support of the VTA BART Silicon Valley Phase II extension. The scope required managing high-volume material imports and precise soil processing to meet strict geotechnical specifications.
Key challenges included tight trade coordination, complex soil processing and reuse requirements, and limited staging constraints. Giron implemented on-site soil screening and blending, phased work sequencing, and advanced logistics planning to maintain production without compromising quality or safety.

Park Renovation
Giron Construction is performing comprehensive grading, drainage, and site construction for the Oyster Point Park Renovation in South San Francisco — a large-scale transformation of a former industrial waterfront into a vibrant public park and open space along the Bay.
The scope includes mass grading, storm drainage installation, pathway and trail construction, shoreline stabilization, and site furnishings coordination. Giron is managing all civil improvements in close coordination with the City of South San Francisco and environmental oversight agencies to deliver a landmark public amenity on schedule and within budget.
The scope included precision excavation, structural fill placement, and wet and dry utility installation across multiple phases all delivered on time and within budget in one of the most complex construction environments in the city.
